Topco Unveils World's Smallest 3D Sensing Light Source Module Developed by SCIVAX at Automation Taipei
Topco Scientific (TWSE: 5434), a leading provider of integrated services for key semiconductor and optoelectronic materials, is introducing the world’s smallest 3D sensing light source module, Amtelus®, developed by Japan-based nanoimprint specialist SCIVAX. Co-developed with Shin-Etsu Chemical, a global leader in silicon wafer manufacturing, Amtelus® combines advanced material technology with precision fabrication to achieve breakthrough miniaturization, while leveraging nanoimprint technology to significantly reduce production costs. This groundbreaking innovation will be showcased from August 20th to 23rd at the 2025 Automation Taipei, held at Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2.
As a key partner of SCIVAX in Taiwan, Topco offers a comprehensive nanoimprint solution encompassing equipment sales, technology, and system integration support. This includes the RubiQ100 nanoimprint system, as well as one-stop services spanning optical simulation, mold fabrication, nanoimprint processing, etching, and final inspection.
The featured Amtelus® module integrates SCIVAX’s proprietary Platanus® optical lens, which ensures high uniformity of light emission. Co-developed with Shin-Etsu Chemical, the device sets a new standard in compactness, optical performance, and cost efficiency. It offers three major advantages:
Ultra-Compact & Versatile for Mobile Applications
The module is less than half the thickness and only one-tenth the volume of conventional products, with a mounting area of less than 1 mm². It can be flexibly integrated into mobile devices such as smartphones and AR glasses, and multiple modules can be combined to enable more advanced and versatile 3D sensing capabilities.
Customizable Illumination Patterns with Wide Emission Angles
Built-in Platanus® lens technology offers high design flexibility, supporting wide-angle irradiation over 140 degrees or high-aspect-ratio scanning angles at 120° × 30°, enabling customized light field distributions based on application needs.
Cost-Effective with High Production Stability
The light source and lens are integrally molded in a resin package using mass-producible nanoimprint technology, delivering superior cost and efficiency advantages compared to conventional manufacturing approaches.
As the 3D sensing market moves toward miniaturization, low power consumption, and higher accuracy, Amtelus® is expected to become a key enabling technology for next-generation applications—including wearables, AR devices, industrial sensors, and life science tools such as vital sign monitoring sensors. Topco Scientific will continue to drive the adoption of SCIVAX nanoimprint technologies, accelerating the transition to high-performance, and next-generation sensing solutions.
